Traveling in 2017 by the New York Times.

Hello Guys !

2017 will be a travelling year for us as we will start our round the world experience in few days from now, but probably for you guys too. As we are currently finalizing our itinerary we would like to share with you the Top 52 places to visit in 2017 published 2 days ago by the NY Times.

A familiar Top 5

To make a long story short, the Top 5 places according to the american newspaper are:

  1. Canada

The 2nd biggest country of the planet will offer you a variety of landscapes and atmospheres. If it stands at the first place of the ranking, it is mainly due to the fact that “Oh Canada” is celebrating 150 years old in 2017 and therefore all the national parks are free this year. A great occasion to explore the amazing natural spots in Canada for a lower price than usual.

Even if Canada will probably not be one of our round the world trip stops, Alex has already been there twice (once in Vancouver, once in Montreal – Quebec region) and he confirms that Canada is a country you should add to your travel list!

2. Atacama Desert, Chile

The Atacama desert is a must destination for who travels in Latin America, be it in 2017 or in any other year. We would definitely tell you guys more about it in 3 months as it is one of our top destinations. Choosing Atacama Desert was one of the easiest decision we had to make for your itinerary as it seems to be an incredible place… However we know it won’t go withouth some challenges as we will be doing tracks and camping in the desert with very high altitudes…. To be continued 🙂

3. Agra, India

Agra is the Taj Mahal city. Of course we all want to go there and discover the architectural Marvel, that makes Agra one of the top places to visit in 2017. Also the surroundings of Agra were renewed and it is really worth staying there for a few days to discover the area.

For the moment, India is not part of our itinerary as we had to cut some destinations due to a limited budget. But we hope to able to go there in a near future.

4. Zermatt, Switzerland

We were talking to you about Zermatt last week in an article dedicated to our trip in Switzerland. If you have missed it, you can check it out here!

Zermatt is an adorable village to spend winter holidays (but summer ones too if you wanna run away from the strong heat and crowed beaches) as you can enjoy a very wide ski area with a spectacular view to the Matterhorn or Cervin Mountain, famous for being the Toblerone logo. One of the most amazing landscapes in the Alpes!

5. Botswana

Botswana is a country between to South Africa and Namibia. As most of the countries of the area it is well known for its wildlife and doing a Safari there is something you won’t regret!

Namibia and South Africa are already in our traveling plans. .. Who knows we won’t try a little stop on the way to check out Botswana Safaries too… stay tuned 😉

The Top 5 already makes us anxious to start traveling and also brings good memories from the places we have already visited… We are so lucky to have the opportunity to do this trip and have to keep dreaming only with the Taj Mahal for the future…

We hope this article will give you plenty of ideas for your next trips and inspire you to pack your bags, this year or later on. If you want to check all the 52 places selected by the NY Times, you can find the complete article here.
